Het tweedelige Nederlandse Elektrische Treinstel Plan V dat in Nederland beter bekend stond als "Mat '64" of onder de bijnaam Apekop (Apenkop) - werd halverwege de jaren zestig een van de standaard stoptreinen van de Nederlandse Staatsspoorwegen . Met in totaal 246 eenheden was het destijds het meest gebouwde treinstel van de NS. Vanaf de V3-serie is ook de nieuwe kleurstelling van de Nederlandse Spoorwegen toegepast op de Plan V 415-units: heldergeel met grijze details aan de voorzijde en drie blauwe, diagonale strepen aan weerszijden van de unit. De treinstellen zijn op vrijwel alle geëlektrificeerde spoorlijnen in Nederland ingezet totdat ze uiteindelijk werden gesloopt.
